  • Proposal Introduction

Every year in China millions of youth leave their village for greater opportunities in the city. Yet, they often still strictly obey the ancient traditions of their home village. Chun Cao, who's been living in the Southern Metropolis of Guangzhou and resisting her parents call for marriage, has finally succumbed to the pressure of blind dating and is just weeks away from her wedding. Contrasting China's urban and rural settings, we follow her as she prepares to say goodbye to her life in the city and return to home for a wedding she does not want to have.

Matthew is a Toronto based filmmaker working in a wide spectrum of productions including documentary, commercial, factual and dramatic. His short work has screened at festivals in North America and Europe, taking home various accolades and recognition.

Blind Date represents his feature film directorial debut.
