The Intended Transaction Amount of GZDOC Hits A Record High!

The four-day-long 2016 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival (hereinafter referred to as GZDOC) concluded on December 15 with a trade contract value of near 400 million yuan, hitting a record high.

The Festival has attracted 4059 documentaries from 111 countries and regions, and 561 international institutions including BBC, Discovery Channel and KBS have participated. Notable is that for the first time representatives of MIPTV, IDFA, Hot Docs and Sheffield Doc/Fest, all being world-known festivals, gathered in Guangzhou with their quality resources for screening, pitching and transactions.

GZDOC is an annual end-of-year event for global documentary lovers. This year the Festival boasts a total of 2376 participants. Industry-leading figures, international buyers and producers, and award-winning directors of such famous international festivals as Oscar, Amy and Sundance participated in over 40 activities, including Global Factual Content Summit, International Distributors Forum, Pioneers of Factual Content Frontier Forum and Mater Class, to share their views on the industry trend and interact with each other.
This demonstrates that GZDOC, as the sole professional documentary film festival in China, is accelerating the integration of Chinese documentaries into the international market and forming an international platform for documentary market transaction. The Festival has no doubt become an indispensable part of international documentary industrial chain.
