Started in 2004, the GZDOC Pitch Sessionshave helped many projects obtain funds or production supports. Due to the COVID-19,GZDOC 2020 Pitching Sessions will go online, with pre-recorded pitches,training short videos, online Q+A and digital hangouts. So far, 22 international decision makers have jumped on board.

What a great opportunity for filmmakers to explore the huge global market and co-production with industry professionals and commissioning editors across the world.

Projects will also be awarded with prizes and shortcuts to other international pitching events.

-  Served as Executive Producer on a variety of documentary films and factual programs - most of them are international co-productions for clients both in North America and in Europe (ZDF, WNET/Thirteen, National Geographic, History Channel and Channel 4).

-  Previously worked in News, covering everything from the Kosovo Warto major sport events.

Janet Han Vissering

Senior Vice President of Development and Production

-  As SVP of development and production at National Geographic, Janet Han Vissering oversees the natural history slate and animal content across the channel, Nat Geo WILD and Disney+.

-  She is responsible for more than 200 hours of programming commissioned each year. In this role, Vissering manages the development teams,working with the world’s leading independent producers, distributors, creative agencies and strategic broadcast partners.

Jean-Jacques Peretti

Sunny Side of the Doc

-  Peretti has worked many years in documentary production in companiessuch as Les Films d’Ici, 2nd Vague Productions, etc, before joining Sunny Side of the Doc in 2002.

-  At Sunny Side, Peretti is in charge of the editorial line, working with the rest of the team on the organization of the schedule of events, panels, case studies, pitch sessions with the main international players.

Joseph Maxwell

SBS, Australia

Head of Documentaries

-  Joseph has developed, directed and produced high end, prime time documentaries for most of the major broadcasters in Britain and America,working for many of Britain's leading production companies.

-  He started as Commissioning Editor for SBS in January 2012 andbecame head of Documentaries in June 2016.

-  From 1985 on she has been working for ZDF, Hessischer Rundfunk, Südwestfunk, 3sat and ARTE. Her main focus are cultural and scientific topics.

-  She was responsible for e.g.: Kulturzeit/3sat, Volle Kanne/ZDF,Lesen and Abenteuer Wissen/ZDF.

-  In 2001, he took over a new position as project manager fordocumentary co-production. In this capacity, Nikolas Hülbusch negotiated numerous wildlife, history and science documentary co-productions with partners including the BBC, Discovery, National Geographic, The History Channel, RTI,Channel 4, France 5, as well as distribution mandate deals with numerous international factual production companies such as Pixcom, ITN Factual, WildFury, Essential Media, Stornoway etc.

-  In 2013, he became the director of ZDFE.unscripted within there structured ZDFE.unscripted genre team. His remit still includes international co-productions and distribution agreements, as well as the licensing of VoDrights in Germany and abroad.

-  Smith previously worked at the Toronto International Film Festivalas director of Special Projects, and director of Public Programs.

-  Prior to TIFF he was Executive Producer, In-Flight Entertainment at Spafax, Director of Programming at Channel Zero Inc, Director CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival, Short Film Programmer for Sundance Film Festival,Programmer for Inside Out LGBT Film Festival.

-  She has worked on various genre and formats including documentary, news programs, and magazine shows. Her main focus of interest has been ininternational affairs, human interests and produced numerous programs including the NHK Special series.

-  From 2014 to 2018, she worked at NHK headquarters as the producerand the commissioning editor of documentary slots including “World Documentary”. She moved back to NHK Enterprises recently, this time to the production headquarters as an executive producer in charge of developing co-production projects.
