The 2018 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival (GZDOC) has successfully wrapped up its half-year film enrollment for Golden Kapok Award Competition on the 31^st August 2018. There are a total of 4542 submissions, setting the festival’s new record. 2469 International films from 122 countries/regions have been submitted to GZDOC，which is 54% of the total entries. The rest of the submissions (2073 films/episodes) are from China, account for 46% of the total.  

Spain, US, and India are the top three countries that record the most submissions.1273 films are from Europe, while 1422 films are from Asia. Producers from 53 countries under ‘The Belt and Road Initiative’ participate the competition this year, including Jordan, Laos, Maldives, Vietnam, etc. The quality of the entry films has also seen a steady rise, according to the GZDOC Organizing Committee.

The finalist list will be announced in November.
