2019-09-18

The World Congress of Science and Factual Producers (WCSFP) has partnered with China’s Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival (GZDOC) to offer a discount on registration for Congress ‘19. Anyone registered to attend GZDOC will receive 20% off accreditation for Congress ’19, being held in Tokyo at the Miraikan, Japan’s National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, from December 2-5.

A must-attend event where smart content matters, Congress ‘19 will bring together leading international creators of science, history and natural history content with top broadcasters, OTT platforms and digital publishers to share, explore and reveal how advancements and discoveries within these fields are communicated to the world. The dynamic four-day event examines future trends in specialist factual production and distribution across all media platforms, including television, virtual reality, online, gaming, augmented reality and film.

This vibrant global industry unites each year for Congress, and attendees are encouraged to reconnect with colleagues, meet new business partners, unwind at memorable social events, and learn from the best and brightest producers, storytellers and decision makers in the world.

Congress is member-driven and engages its passionate community of creators and executives to produce the sessions offered, guaranteeing vital content influencing the industry. Featuring an exceptional program of workshops and discussion panels, Congress attracts notable keynote speakers, who in the past have included New York Times president Mark Thompson, multi-award-winning film producer Lord David Puttnam, astronaut Chris Hadfield, and revered author Margaret Atwood.

In addition to a full slate of sessions and social events, Congress ‘19 also features two great market events:

-    Speed Dating is a great way for independent producers to connect one-on-one with decision makers. With staff conducting some preliminary matchmaking, decision makers pre-select projects they find interesting without knowing who or where they came from until their face-to-face meeting.

-    Close Encounters of the Funding Kind offers small group meetings with individual broadcasters, platforms  and funders, all of whom either commission science and history programs from independent producers outside their own territories or who provide significant funding or support.

Face-to-face Meeting
