Film Introduction
Suleman and three other members of the Sudan film club decided to revive an old cinema. They are united not only by a love of film and a strong desire to restore the old film stock and refocus on Sudan's film history, but also because they were educated in exile. Tirelessly, they tried to get theater owners on their side to get the place up and running again, but they repeatedly found themselves facing considerable resistance. It is in these moments of simplicity that the audience perceives friendship and the bonds and ideological solidarity that exist in the struggle for common ideals. Suhab gasmelbari puts the history of Sudanese cinema at the centre of his film, as well as revealing the state of a country affected by a continuing crisis.
